Miss Grace Ophelia Jennings, age 91, of Danville, and formerly of Halifax County, passed away on October 18, 2015, in Danville. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Anthony Jennings and Mrs. Luella Freeman Jennings.Ophelia was a graduate of North Carolina A & T State University with a degree in Home Economics and completed further studies at Prairie View College, Cornell University, Hampton University, Virginia State University, and Michigan State University. She worked as an agent for the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service, receiving numerous distinguished service and merit awards.She is survived by one sister, Ora J. Hatchett of New York; three brothers, John Jennings (Mollie) of Danville, Sylvesta L. Jennings (Lillie) of Danville, and Louis D. Jennings (Bernice) of Halifax County, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 12 p.m. at the New Shiloh Baptist Church in Nathalie, Va., with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 5 until 6 p.m. at the chapel of Jeffress Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 304 Lusardi Drive, Brookneal.
