Helen Hatcher Taylor Brooks Helen Hatcher Taylor Brooks, 88, of 168 Dogwood Lane, Danville, Va., died Monday, February 17, 2014, at Danville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Brooks was born September 23, 1925, in Axton, Va., to the late Lester and Bessie Mae Taylor. She was also predeceased by her husband, Andrew Jackson Brooks Jr.; her son, Carl Winford Brooks; and a grandson, Anthony Brooks. She was a faithful member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her daughters, Margarett Joann Brooks of Danville, Va., Kathy Brooks Nosay and husband, Walter, of Durham, N.C.; her son, Paul Nathan Brooks and wife, Mardi Belfiore, of Troutville, Va.; her brothers, Otha Taylor and Pete Taylor of Axton, Va.; grandchildren, Andrew Scott Brooks, Michael Brooks, Shannon Brooks, Angie Brooks; two grandchildren and one step grandchild who live out of town; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Norris Funeral Service, West End Chapel with the Rev. Ron Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Norris Funeral Service, West End Chapel with a second visitation from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 prior to the service and other times at the residence, 168 Dogwood Ln., Danville, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to The United Way, 308 Craghead St. #104, Danville, VA 24541.
