Howard N. Dodson

Howard N. Dodson, 90, of 175 Capri Court, Danville, Va., died on Friday, April 9, 2021 at SOVAH Health in Danville.

Howard was born in Keeling, Va. on October 13, 1930, a son of the late Luther Bee Dodson and Evelyn Walton Dodson. He lived most of his life in Danville, Va. and he retired in 1993 from Dodson Brothers Exterminating Company where he worked as a service technician. Prior to working at Dodson Brothers Exterminating Co., he worked for 25 years for the Danville Register & Bee where he worked as an assistant circulation manager.

Howard was a member of Forest Lawn Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He loved his church family very much and had served as a deacon. He enjoyed growing a garden. He loved camping and the many friends he met as a member of Good Sam's Camping Club. He also loved bluegrass music and was a faithful attendant at Richard Stroud's bluegrass music night.

On December 25, 1953 he married Earlene Davis Dodson, who survives. They lived every day, side by side.

In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by a son, Jeff Dodson (Debra) of Danville, Va.; a daughter, Janet Dodson Hash (Allen) of Sutherlin, Va.; two grandchildren, Carrie and Zack; three sisters, Fleetwood Chaney, Elsie Herndon (Charles), Shirley Raynor; three brothers, Ray Dodson (Charlotte), L. B. Dodson (Liz), and Johnnie Dodson (Linda), all of Danville, Va.

Howard was predeceased by two brothers, Manuel Dodson and Willie Dodson; and two sisters, Earline Batterman and Ruby Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 3 p.m. from the graveside at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Tim Rogers officiating. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens. At other times the family will be at the residence.
