James Otis Tanksley Jr., age 82, of Keeling, Va., passed away at SOVAH on Thursday, April 30, 2019. James was born in Pittsylvania County October 26, 1936, to the late Mary Carmichael Tanksley and James Otis Tanksley Sr. James is survived by his wife, Faye Doss Tanksley of the residence. Mr. Tanksley retired from Goodyear Tire Rubber as a tire builder and served in the United States Army. He attended Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. In addition to his wife Mr. Tanksley is survived by his daughters, Donna Hawker (Larry), Debbie Dunavant; stepdaughters, Lisa Dawson (Lynn), Patty Worley and Karen Mooney (Kevin); his sons, Jimmy Tanksley (Brenda) and Michael Tanksley; his sister, Lois Terry; his brothers, Clifton Tanksley, Reless Tanksley; seven grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tanksley was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Tanksley; brothers, Ronald, Bobby and Jerry Tanksley; and granddaughter, Brittany Porterfield. Visitation will be held at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel on Friday, May 3, 2019, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the Tanksley's Family Cemetery on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Burger officiating. At other times, the family will be receiving friends at the residents of Jimmy Tanksley at 16857 Old Richmond Rd., Keeling, Va. 24566. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Keeling Fire Department at 2200 Oak Grove Rd., Keeling, VA 24566. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt.
