Jan Moffitt Obituary
Jan Craig Moffitt, 68, of 1302 Courtland Ave., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at the Penn Nursing Center after an extended illness.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Interment will be in the church columbarium.
A native of Asheboro, he was a son of the late Eugene B. and Alene Andrews Moffitt and had lived in Reidsville for the past 30 years. He was a retired employee of General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam war, and was preceded in death by a half brother, Brandon Moffitt. Jan was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, a former member of the Reidsville Rotary Club, a former member of the Reidsville Lions Club, a Past President of the Reidsville Men's Garden Club and was a Past Chairman of the Reidsville Appearance Commission.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Grace Blair Moffitt, of the home; a brother, Tommy Moffitt and wife, Pat, of Asheboro; a sister, Ann M. Traynham and husband, Earle, of Jacksonville, Fla.; stepmother, janet Miller of New London; Loving pets, Maggie the dog and Tigger the cat; special friend, Irvin Lee.
The family would like to thank the staff of South Hall of Penn Nursing Center especially Brittany Chapmon, Ashley Marsh, Karyn Meeks and Angel Allen for their loving care throughout Jan's illness.
The family will see friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today, Oct. 25, 2009, in the Pipkin Parlor of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and at other times will be at the residence.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church 315 Lindsey St., Reidsville, NC 27320.

Grace,
I was so sorry to hear about Jan, We have been friends since the 80's,him working for GMAC and me working for the Gm Dealers in Madison and Reidsville. He was always such a nice person and from the first day I met him we kind of clicked. He and Gene Wheeler were my favorite people from GMAC. I always enjoyed talking with Jan. He always had a smile on his face even though he might be having a bad day trying to find people who might be a little behind on payments. We always had a good laugh before he would leave the dealership and always thanked me for my help. He will not be forgotten.
May God bless you and be with you in the days to come.
