John Mastin Dodd

John Mastin Dodd of Dry Fork, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the age of 74. He was born on October 19, 1946, to the late Lois Frances Scearce Dodd and the late Silas Mastin Dodd in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He is survived by his wife Meva Walker Dodd.

John was of the Baptist Faith, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, where he served with the 359 Transportation Division in Vietnam. After retirement, the men he served with found each other and formed a group called Gun Truckers, that traveled all over the U.S. and finding other buddies that served. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Chris Dodd of Dry Fork, Virginia; his daughter, Anderia Frakes (Joe) of Dry Fork, Virginia; his brothers, Milton Dodd (Brenda) of Dry Fork, Virginia, and Maynard Dodd (Janet) of Dry Fork, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Alyssa, Britani, Mikie, Katelynn, Angelina, and Chris Jr.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, John Michael Dodd; and his brothers, Martin Dodd and Mark Dodd.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the Silas Dodd Family Cemetery with Bob Bradshaw officiating.
