Mr. Joseph A. Vaden, 89, of 1004 Abbott Place, Chatham, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, March 21, 2017,at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C. He was born on August 11, 1927, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late Charlie and Lena Jones Vaden. He was married to Rosa Betty Vaden, who predeceased him. Survivors include a daughter, Vanessa Peatross, of Danville, Va.; a brother, Charlie (Ted) Vaden, of Chatham, Va.; a sister, Jean V. Williams, of Chatham, Va.; nieces, nephews, and other relative and friends. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 25, 2017,at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Russell East, Jr., from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Shockoe Church Cemetery. A viewing will be heldone hour prior to service. Howerton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
