Lena Fitzgerald Obituary
BLAIRS - Mrs. Lena Fitzgerald, 89 of 2480 Malmaison Road, Blairs, Virginia passed Thursday afternoon (09-18-08) in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 28, 1919 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Fitzgerald and Mrs. Josephine Terry Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Fitzgerald; one sister, Pansy Logan and one brother, Joseph Jones.
She was a retired Nurses' Aide and a member of the Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and the Usher Board.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean C. Boyd of Washington, DC and Phyllis Hughes of Blairs, Virginia; three sons, Walter L. Fitzgerald of Washington, DC, Jerry J. Fitzgerald of Ft. Washington, Maryland and Sidney A. Fitzgerald of Danville, Virginia; one sister, Rebecca Thomp-son (Randolph) of Chatham, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday (09-23-08) at 11:00 a.m. from the Shockoe Mission-ary Baptist Church by Minister Doris Morrison Interment will follow in the Highland Burial Park, Danville, Virginia. A viewing will be held Monday (09-22-08) from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home and she will lie in state at the church Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service.
Miller Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of the arrangements.
