Mary Ella Lea

Mary E. Lea was born on August 31, 1921 in Blanch, N.C. to the late Anderson and Rosa Richmond Lea. She was married to the late David Lea Sr.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory eight children, Helen Thomas, Rosetta Watkins, and Angela Cunningham (Henry) all of Maryland, Robert Lea (Gloria) and Tommy Lea (Sharon) both of North Carolina, Paul Lea (Shaunell) and Kevin Lea (Beverly) both of Danville, Va., and Sheila Kirby of Dry Fork, Va.; sons-in-law, James Jeffers, Felix Jeffers and Ronald Mack; daughters-in-law, Loretta Graves and Barbara Price; numerous grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded by 14 children, infant boy, John, Inez, Monroe, Argusta, David Jr., James, Millie, Priscilla, Fannie, Cynthia, Maria, Ester, and Nancy and six siblings, Katie, Martha Othea, Liza, Weldon, and Coleman.

Funeral services held for Mrs. Lea will be private. Public viewings will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 2 until 8 p.m. at Sharpe Funeral Home, 520 Rosenwald Street, Burlington, N.C. and Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at River Zion Baptist Church, 5637 Blanch Road, Blanch, N.C.
