Matthew James McGill Mr. Matthew James McGill, age 37, of Danville, Virginia, died on Monday, March 17, 2014, in Cary, North Carolina. He was born on October 11, 1976, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Jimmy and Dorothy McGill. Mr. McGill owned Matthew James McGill Trucking, LLC in Danville, Virginia, and was a member of Forest Lawn Baptist Church. He was a loving husband and father, as well as a dedicated Christian man that did whatever he could for his family, friends and even strangers, always striving to be Christ's ambassador. Mr. McGill honored his church and his Lord by singing and playing music to glorify His name. Matthew served his country in the United States Marine Corp as an E-5 sergeant for four years. In addition to his parents, Mr. McGill is survived by his wife, Miranda Brackett McGill; his daughter, Jocelyn Grace McGill; three brothers, John and wife, Lori, of Hurt, Virginia, Brian of Altavista, Virginia, and Curtis of Ray City, Georgia; four nephews, Zachary, Dalton, Isaiah, and Camron; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerry and Pamela Brackett; brother-in-law, Lucas Brackett; sister-in-law, Samantha Brackett; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2014, at Swicegood Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. Visitation will be held 7 until 8:30 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Forest Lawn Baptist Church, 1816 West Main Street, Danville, VA 24541. A fund is also being created at Wells Fargo Bank for Mr. McGill's daughter, Jocelyn Grace, who has Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This fund can be accessed at any Wells Fargo Bank location.
