Michael Cassada Obituary
October 4, 1950 - January 7, 2023
Michael Paul Cassada, 72, entered into his heavenly home on Saturday, January 7, 2023. He was born in Danville, Va. on October 4, 1950 to the late Dorothy Martin Cassada and the late Paul T. Cassada. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Nancy C. Cassada.
Mike was a lifelong member of Third Avenue Christian Church where he gave his life to Christ. Anybody who knew him knew he lived life to the fullest. He was a Special Agent with the Virginia Department of ABC for 28.5 years. Mike's passion in life was Auto Racing and he traveled to racetracks around the country including Indianapolis and Daytona. He retired and went to work for Virginia International Raceway where he was famously known as Rooster. (His home away from home) performing various tasks with joy. He loved spending time with his family and especially his two grandchildren, Kohen and Sutton. One of his favorite past times was taking his two dogs, Danica and Chipper, for a Sunday ride in the "car-car". He was a longtime fan of Virginia Tech Hokies and the Atlanta Braves. He was a graduate of GWHS, Class of 1969 and was a longtime member of Tuscarora Country Club as well as a member of the VIR Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jon Paul Cassada and wife, Brittany of Danville, Va.; two Grandchildren, Kohen and Sutton Cassada; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cassada was predeceased by a sister, Cheryl Griffin and two dogs, Danica and Chipper.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), or the Danville Area Humane Society (1000 South Boston Road, Danville, VA 24540).
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 2 p.m. at The Gallery at Virginia International Raceway with Pastor Ryan Riley officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Nancy and all the family at this very sad time. Mike was so full of energy and lived a very full life to say the least. Mike was a true gentleman with the upmost sincerity. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him and spend time with him. May GOD hold you all close in his comfort, care and love.

Mike was our next-door neighbor when we lived on Springfield Road Danville almost 40 years ago. Loved to watch him zip into the driveway in that little cobra. rest in peace.
