Mr. Michael P. Urquhart, 38, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and formerly of Gretna, Virginia, departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in Charlotte. Born on October 27, 1978, in Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg, Virginia, the son of the late Louis Urquhart and Linda Haley Urquhart, who survives. Michael was a graduate of Gretna High School and enlisted in the United States Marines, where he received an Honorable discharge. He was baptized at the First Church of Jesus, Apostolic in Altavista, Virginia and grew up in the Greater Canaan Land Church in Gretna, Virginia. He was self-employed as a painter. In addition to his mother of Gretna, Virginia, Michael is survived by his stepdaughter, Kayla Heikman of Roanoke, Virginia; two brothers, Louis Urquhart of Gretna, Virginia and Sherman Urquhart (Julia) of Hopewell, Virginia; his fianc?e and life partner, Sylvia Misztalski of Roanoke, Virginia; Tashunna Bauldwin, of Greensboro, North Carolina, whom was raised as Michael's sister, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 16, 2017, 12 p.m. at the chapel of Miller Funeral Home by Bishop S. Y. Younger. Interment will follow in the Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden, Gretna, Virginia. The family is at the residence of his mother, Linda Urquhart, 3561 Midway Road, Gretna, Virginia. Miller Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of the arrangements.
