Myrt Mann Obituary
GRETNA - Myrt William "M.W." Mann Jr., age 67, of 3061 Blue Ridge Drive, Gretna died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Richmond.
Born Feb. 26, 1941, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Myrt William Mann Sr. and Marilla Flood Mann. Mr. Mann was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church, an Army veteran of Vietnam, and enjoyed hunting. He was a former employee of General Electric, and owner of Maple Hollow Nursery.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Garner Mann of the residence; three sons, Keith Mann of Richmond, Cris Mann and his wife, Jennifer of Summerville, S.C., and Stuart Mann of Gretna; a brother, Richard Mann of Danville; two sisters, Carrie East of Altavista, and Margaret Glover of Pamplin; and two grandsons, Carson Mann and Braden Mann.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Daryl Joyce. Burial will follow in Greenfield Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
The family suggests memorials be made to Commonwealth Home Nursing and Hospice, 159 Executive Drive, Suite H, Danville, VA 24541.
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of arrangements.

Diane,
I have so many fond memories of our times together at the greenhouse. For many years, we spent so much of our time together. Please know that I am always only a phone call away. I pray that God will give you the grace needed to keep on keeping on.

I remember M W from our school days. Even though I left VA. in 1958 before we were high school graduates I have remembered M W.
Once on a hunting trip some of M W's kin was here in Colorado and I met them and was told of M W. I remember M W as being a good friend. I am planning a trip to VA. in June and attend the annual school reunion. I am sure all will miss M W.
