Ruby Frances Rowland Riddle Mrs. Ruby Frances Rowland Riddle, age 88, of 321 Medical Center Road, Danville, died on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Riddle was born on May 18, 1925, in the Sycamore Community of Pittsylvania County, to the late Douglas Marion Rowland and Mary Ionia Davis Rowland. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and loved gardening and flowers; she had a green thumb. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Riddle is survived by four daughters, Linda R. Mills and husband, Reggie, of Danville, Brenda R. Dodd and husband, Milton, of Dry Fork, VA, Cathy R. Scearce and husband, Johnny, of Danville, and Ruby Gail Riddle of Danville; one son, Norman H. Riddle and wife, Kim, of Montgomery, AL; her brother, Marion Troy Rowland of Danville; seven grandchildren, Tasha Van Der Hyde, Charles Shelton, Donnie Dodd, Kennan Riddle, Timothy Dodd, Robbie Mills, and Regan Riddle; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Nace C. Wiley of Providence, NC. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Aubrey Clark Riddle on April 22, 1987; two sisters, Addie Wiley and Naomi Rowland; six brothers, Otis, Russell, Howard, Stoney, Bertie, and Norman Rowland. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013, at Swicegood Funeral Home officiated bythe Rev. William "Bill" Soyars. Interment will follow the service at the Riddle Family Cemetery in Henry County. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 15, 2013, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be receiving friends at the residence of Linda and Reggie Mills, 101 Medical Center Road, Danville. Memorial contributions may be made to Tunstall Fire and Rescue, 740 Tunstall High Road, Dry Fork, VA 24549. Swicegood Funeral Service is respectfully serving the Riddle family.
