Sean Mitchell Obituary
God called his angel Sean Patrick Mitchell to be with him Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Sean was born to Eric and Debbie Mitchell on June 26, 1987. He was known to all as a big lovable teddy bear. He spent a vast majority of his life caring and giving to those around him. He began volunteering with Mt. Hermon Volunteer Fire Department, which led him into his chosen career with Emergency Medical Services. First aid certification instructor, EMS captain, Paramedic, brother, son, friend and rock are just few of the titles this amazing young man held in his short life. His bright smile and warm spirit touched many lives and his sudden passing leaves a gaping hole in many of our lives.
He is survived by his parents, Eric and Debbie Mitchell of Danville Virginia, a sister, Erica Deann Mitchell of Charlotte, NC, maternal grandmother, Helen Clark of Danville Virginia, his girlfriend, Megan Donovant of Reidsville, NC and many close friends. He is predeceased by grandfathers, Wesley Clark and Larry Mitchell, and a paternal grandmother, Rebecca Mitchell.
The family will be receiving friends at Shermont Baptist Church on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 7:00-8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at Shermont Baptist Church on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Ryan Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. At other times the family will be receiving friends at the residence at 541 Poplar Trace all other times. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Mount Hermon Fire & Rescue, 4268 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24541.

I first met Sean while he attended PCTC and what a sweet, kind and like someone said, a Teddy Bear of a guy! Always a big smile and a hug! Sean continued to come back after he graduated and helped with the training classes at PCTC and their EMT class. Still the big smile and a hug. Sean will be missed deeply and my thoughts and prayers are with his family. May your memories be held tight and never leave you, it's the one thing God leaves us when he calls a loved one home. We have many good memories of Sean. Lisa remembers taking care of him in the nursery at church. One of my favorite memories was Sean driving Doug around and taking him to church. From the time I met Sean I knew he was something special. Let's admit it, God doesn't make them that good everyday. He was a true friend that I loved deeply and a brother to my husband George. I always referred to Sean, George, and Kyle as the 3 muskateers and Ryan was a welcomed addition to the bunch. The brotherhood they share is like no other I have witnessed. I taught Sean at Tunstall High School for several years, and although many, many students have been through my classes, he was one that I will always remember. He was such a kind, compassionate, and polite young man! He set a great example for other students, and I always enjoyed his enthusiasm in class. Sean was such a sweet and big hearted person. There was always a guarentee when you were around him you would end up with a big smile on your face. He was a great provider and person. Sean became a member of our family though my nephew George. There was never a time that if you seen one there was the other. Many were the times we would be at Pino's they would come in and they would always eat and than say they were going somewhere and as always I'd be saying call and be careful.
