Shirley Pruitt West, 73, of 24 Southern Street, Danville, Va., went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 24, 2023, at her residence.
Shirley was born in Greenville, Tenn., on November 3, 1949, a daughter of the late Robert Allen Pruitt and Mildred Elaine Tucker Pruitt. She spent most of her life in the Danville area where she was a homemaker. She was a member of Dan River Church.
On September 21, 1968 she married Jerry Wayne West, Sr. who survives.
In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her son, Jerry W. West Jr. and his wife, Leslie, of Danville, Va.; her brothers, Milton Pruitt and his wife, Patty and Kenny Pruitt and his wife, Dorothy; her sister, Brenda Sims and her husband, Al; her granddaughter, Delaney West; her great-niece, Zoey Rhone; many nieces and nephews; and her loving companion, Gypsy.
She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Sherry West Dix; and her siblings, Jimmy Pruitt, Ronald Pruitt, Carolyn Raper.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Dan River Church with Pastor Scott Randlett and Pastor Todd Hartley officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Dan River Church and at other times the family will be at the residence, 24 Southern Street, Danville, VA 24541.

One of the most caring and special person I know. My sweet Amigo Shirley I will miss you so much. Our friendship goes way back from Cardinal Village to Schoofield School to our grown up days at GW Highschool, though we were many miles apart you were always thought of the wonderful times you, I, and Charlotte had as friends I will always cherish.
