REIDSVILLE -Vergie Stone Griffin, 84, of 702 Lawndale Dr., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 7, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Hester and Rev. Paul Luttrell officiating. The burial will follow in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Griffin was born in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Johnny Hassel and Anita Jarrett Stone. She retired from the American Tobacco Company with over 25 years of service. Mrs. Griffin was a longtime and faithful member of Community Baptist Church. Her family was her life.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Johnnie Griffin of the home; her daughter, Denise Griffin Brown and husband, Gary of Reidsville; her grandsons, Nathan Brown and wife, Melissa, John Mark Brown and Stephen Brown and wife, Christa; great grandchildren, Katelyn, Allyson, Jenna, Johnnie and Raegan; brothers, Charles Everette Stone and wife, India and James Cecil Stone and wife, June all of Reidsville; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Lovenuia Bates and many friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 6 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home.
