Waverly Poindexter Obituary
LYNCH STATION - Waverly Poindexter, 60, of 590 Butterfly Lane, Lynch Station, VA passed Sunday (12-07-08 )at his residence. Born April 19, 1948 in Pittsylvania Co., he was the son of the late Lynch and Leva Boyd Poindexter.
Waverly was employed at Columbia Forest in Chatham, VA and was a member of Elba Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Poindexter of the residence; a son, Roger Poindexter of Halifax, Va.; a daughter, Veronica Wimbish of Bedford, Va; his stepfather, Pride Hunt (Hilda) of Nathalie, VA; six sisters-Arlean Davis, Juanita Hall and Catherlene Hawkins all of Hurt, VA,; Estelle Hall of Long Island, Va; Louise Callands, Gretna, Va and Betty Dejarnette of Brookneal, Va ; half-sister, Bernice Jones, Richmond, Va; his mother-in-law, Lillian Rhodes, Lynch Station, Va; step-daughter; Twana Davis (Jason), Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren ; seven brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law ; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by three brothers-Shirley, Claude and James Poindexter; a half brother-Herman Poindexter and two sisters-Adell P. Slayton and Ernestine Poindexter; three half-sisters-Ada Mae Miller, Pauline Word and Lillie Bea Parker.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. B. I. Baize with interment in the Elba Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 at the funeral home.
Miller Funeral Home, Gretna, is in charge of arrangements.
