Willie Edward Robertson passed away on June 5, 2023. Mr. Robertson resided with his sister, Geraldine Lewis, for the last five years. He was born in Danville, Va., on March 25, 1935, the son of Percy E. Robertson and Gracie Robertson.
He served in the Air Force in 1956 and had an honorable discharge due to asthma. He worked 47 years as a pipefitter and loved his work. He was an avid reader, and read the entire set of encyclopedias, remembering most of it. Family and friends said he was one of the smartest people they knew, and many called him a southern gentleman. He loved animals and enjoyed walking his many German Shepherds. He loved his family and friends and was very loyal to them.
He leaves behind his sister, Geraldine Lewis; a nephew, Tony Lewis; niece, Dawn L. Jones, as well as a great-niece and great-nephew.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023, 11 a.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held prior to the graveside from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, and family and friends are welcome to attend both.

Willie "The Colonel" would always come by and look after me and hang out when I was working at Parkview Marathon years ago. We would shoot the breeze and talk about everything. I sure will miss you buddy. Rest in Peace, sir. My condolences to the family.

I will always remember Willie walking his dog up Edmonds St and Kemper road.I was always amazed they were always out and about. Willie's cap was his signature look we always called him Sarge. May God Bless you guys through this time. Rest in peace Willie Mike and Tonya Hughes
