Jason Hughes Obituary

Jason D. Hughes passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025. He was born on August 4, 1970, in Edwardsville, IL. He is eldest son of the late Phyllis Nikki (Hughes) Hendricks.
Jason graduated from Edwardsville Senior High in 1988. He went on to study and graduate from the Illustrious Central State University in Wilberforce, OH.
In addition to his mother, Jason was preceded in death by his two big sisters, Denise Hughes and Donise Hughes-Watkins, and his beloved Gram, Dora (Dean) Greene.
Jason leaves to cherish his memory and legacy, his daughter, Kayla Q. Hughes of Atlanta, GA; his younger siblings, Janice Hendricks of Arlington, TX, Carlton Hendricks and Grayson Hendricks of Chicago, IL; nieces, Alexus Turner and Kennedie Watkins. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, bonus sons and daughters (as he would call them), other relatives, and friends to help keep his legacy alive, Forever!
Services will be held in Edwardsville, IL on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Wildey Theatre. Visitation from 12 to 1:15 p.m. Private service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central State University, Black United Fund of Illinois, and National Black Arts Festival.
