John Johnson Obituary

John D. Johnson, 63, of Glen Carbon, died March 12, 2011 after a valiant two year battle with cancer.
John was born Dec. 9, 1947 in Beloit, Wisc., to Burt and June Johnson.
John's childhood years were spent in Milwaukee and Waukesha, Wis. Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, John began a 36-year marketing career with Amoco Oil. Throughout his career, new opportunities brought John and his family to many cities throughout the Midwest.
John was an avid reader and a passionate sports fan who had a great love for music. He was a good, honest man of faith who believed in hard work and following core values to do right by others in life. His quick wit and positivity endeared him to all.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diane; son Robert Johnson of Chicago; daughter Courtney (Josh) Flug of St. Bonifacius, Minn.; sister Laurie (Dan) Skibba of Merrimack, N.H.; brother Dean (Elaine) Johnson of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; and nieces and nephews, Lindsay and Matthew Skibba and Mia and David Johnson.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tibor Kopjas, Dr. John Visconti, and all of the nurses for their compassionate care.
Visitation and memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 19th, at St. Peter the Fisherman Church, 3218 Tannery Road, Two Rivers, Wisconsin 54241; visitation at 9:30 a.m. with the Mass to follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in John's name be sent to Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners, 110 Grand Ave South, Wayzata, MN 55391, or donor's choice.

Courtney and family...our hearts and prayers are with you all....what a wonderful gentleman he was and we know that also because we know his beautiful daughter who represents all that he believed in and is an honest woman of faith who also believes and touches so many lives with hard work , gentleness and doing right by others in life. His legacy will live on through the generations. Now he in the arms of his heavenly Father and beloved Savior where he rests in peace.
