Aviston - Neil R. Joellenbeck, 52, of Aviston, IL, born June 16, 1973, in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, IL.
Neil most recently was a communication specialist for Wells Fargo in St. Louis. He started his career at Herald Publications. From there, he worked for the St. Louis Post Dispatch and St. Louis University. Neil was baptized and confirmed at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville, IL, and past member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1143. Neil enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, music, and had a great sense of humor. He was a proud father that loved scouting with his sons as an adult leader for Troop 8216.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard R. "Rich" Joellenbeck, grandparents, Victor and Dorothy, nee Renth, Joellenbeck.
Neil is survived by his sons, Benjamin and Samuel Joellenbeck of Edwardsville, IL; mother, LuAnn, nee Gravot, Joellenbeck of Mascoutah, IL; sisters, Cheryl (Tim) Soderstrom of Lake Bluff, IL and Rhonda (Paul) Swenny of Pana, IL; nieces and nephew, Emma and Madeleine Soderstrom, Jessica, Jeannine, Jacob and Jaclyn Swenny; loyal best friend, Dave Hanania; also survived by beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation: From 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, and from 9 to10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, at Moll Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Trummer officiating. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
