Ross Kenton Gentile, age 60 of Glen Carbon, IL, died at 9:04 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Per request, cremation to be done.
Memorials suggested to the family.

I came to know Ross each day on the radio, Driving Home from work. The great way to end any work-day ! Get insights from Ross, sharing so many ideas. His comments thus changed what I got out of listening to the songs. I gained more from the music, by hearing his commentary on Jazz. I will never forget the Love & appreciation he had for music, especially the wild rodeo of Jazz. I enjoyed hearing him every day after work, for years. How to relax after a stressful day at work ? Tune in to Ross on 88.7 FM radio. He was a treasure for Local radio and also to all of St Louis. After sharing this with my family at home, our daughter (was influenced) to shortly after, take up the trumpet. She played in Jazz Bands for 5 years, and then 1 year into college. Ross was a refined gentleman in every way. May God bless the memory of Ross to his family and friends for years to come. Don & Marlene

to the family and friends of Ross Gentile of blessed memory, we wish our deepest sympathy. We greatly enjoyed his "a Touch of Velvet" show on KZQZ radio. Our weekends will be a little less bright without hearng his warm mellow voice. Although we never met, we feel like we've lost a friend. My late brother Marty Leon of blessed memory, a fine musician and music historian, died suddenly 15 yrs ago at age 51. I hope they meet on the other side and enjoy a peaceful eternity of music and harmony.

Ross was a "Sweet and Lovely" gentleman. He and I talked about my experiences as the daughter of a lyricist, and it was great fun! His musical selections and warm voice were gifts to so many of us that love jazz. My deepest condolences to his family.

I first met Ross n the late 70s .I was facinated with live music he allowed me to experience backstage .My friends.were all jealous.He would play jazz when I worked with him at his house at first I didn't get it next thing I knew I was hooked. What a great gift he gave me something I will always CHERISH ! I didn't know he had fallen ill till last fall. He ask me take his moped to the honda dealership for him. We had a great time reminiscing .I'm sorry I missed his wake

My deepest condolences to Ross' family. We went to junior high and high school together and were friends there. We did not remain friends after high school as we went our separate ways, but I have nothing but fond memories of my old friend. Rest in peace, Ross.

What I appreciated about Ross was his dedication to jazz. I listened pretty regularly to his show since the early 2000s. I am also a fan of the group Head East, so it's cool that he was involved with their success in the industry. I wish him well in the afterlife, and I wish his family peace and happiness.
