Growing up next door when we were in grade school, I came to know and love Sallie. Life took us in different directions, but I'd see her sporadically over the years and it was always a great reunion. She was always such a kind, loving and positive person. God's blessings to you Sallie, and prayers and love to all the Clark and Spiller families.

Sally was an advocate for students, teachers, and our school district. She knew what was right, good, and fair. Sally was indeed a professional in her field and an extremely talented teacher. She was a loving family member, as I have heard proud comments about her family often. Sallie loved music of all kinds and was fun to be with. She was a good Christian person and it shined through in her actions. I feel so blessed to have known Sallie and to be able to call her friend. We'll miss you girl!

I knew Sallie from grade school. Whenever we would run into each other we would always hug and catch up. It has been a few years since I have seen her; I am saddened to see that she has left but will always be in my memory as my friend that always had a kind word for everyone and a smile that could only make you happier when you saw her. My thoughts go to her family at this time. The world was a better place because of you, Sallie.

I was so sad to hear about Sallie, what a great person and a special teacher. I met her through Special Olympics, and later was a teacher to my son Chad at the Edwardsville Jr. High, I learned to get to know her when I worked at the Jr. High as a custodian. Always had a smile and always would say hello to me even if she was talking to some one else. I will miss her kindness and her helpfulness through my sons special education years.

Sallie was taken from us too soon for me to be able to say goodbye. But I will remember her for the champion she was for children, for her hard work and belief in the educational system, and for her willingness to get involved and improve our world. Sallie, I am proud to say that I knew you.

Sallie was such a sweet and giving person always! I have known her since junior high and graduated with her in 1973. When I worked with the teachers in times when strikes were completely valid and necessary, she had a presence as president of the EEA that was commanding with compassion for the people she represented. Her resignation left a vacancy that has yet to be matched. My friends who taught with her reinforced her goodness and what a wonderful teacher she was. I will miss her!
