KINGSTON — Arlene F. Rothstein, 93, of Kingston, passed away on March 17, 2018.
Arlene was born Arlene Friedman, in New York on Jan. 22, 1925, daughter of that late Max J. and Leah Hazer Friedman. Arlene married the love of her life, Harry L. Rothstein on Aug. 31, 1944, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. They were married almost 74 years. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed playing piano, painting, traveling and attending theater and symphony events. She served three terms as president of the Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women. She and her husband, Harry, were active in the Wilkes-Barre Little Theater, the JCC Drama Guild and the Rotary Club Student Exchange program.
She is survived by her son, Robert J. (Anne) Rothstein, of Brussels, Belgium; daughter, Robin Rothstein, of Norton, Mass. (and fiancé Robert Weisberger); granddaughters, Shona (Pierre) Rothstein and Liane (Jeromy Hrabovecky) Rothstein, all of Brussels, Belgium.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2018, at Rosenberg's Funeral Home, 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre with Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating. Burial in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville. Shiva will be observed at Highland Park Senior Living, 874 Schechter Drive, Apt 104, Wilkes-Barre Township, on Monday, March 19, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m.
