It is with broken hearts that the family of Tyler Joseph Cowman announces his passing from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the age of 29.
Tyler was born June 23, 1991, in Kingston, to Shawn and Diane Cowman. He had brothers Trevin and Trey Cowman, who were his lifelong best friends. Together, the five formed the Cowman Crew.
Tyler was a 2009 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, where he excelled academically and as a Spartan football player and wrestler, earning a 4th place medal at the 2009 PIAA State Wrestling Championships. This medal capped a stellar wrestling career that began at the age of 6, during which he earned many accolades and much respect. Tyler furthered his academics and wrestling careers at Brown University, showing us all, once again, that he could accomplish anything he wanted, never listening to the disbelievers.
Tyler graduated from Brown University in 2013 with a degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Organizations - Business Economics. He moved to Chicago that summer to start an impressive business career working for PNC Bank, Steelbrick, Salesforce, and Emelar. He moved back to the Wyoming Valley in February to be with his family, leaving behind a beautiful second family in Chitown. He was so proud to have started a new position, as a Quote-To-Cash Architect for Neocol and even prouder to have purchased his first home in Bear Creek Village.
Tyler was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gary Cowman and Farrell Myers, and his beautiful Dupree.
Tyler is survived by his parents, Shawn and Diane Cowman; brothers, Trevin and Trey Cowman and sister, Brittany Cowman; maternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Duesler; aunts and uncles, Tara and Don Lauderback, Tori Cowman, John and Bernice Duesler, Sean and Jen Duesler, Denise Duesler and Chris Dubaskas; cousins, Tanner Lauderback, Demi Phelps, Ellie and Cole Veatch, Regina, John Jr., James, and Nell Duesler, Galvin, Cameron, Aubrey and Molly Duesler, Kasen Heim, his Godson Kaden Dubaskas and his baby Luna.
Tyler lived more in his 29 years than most live in a lifetime. He was a businessman by day and hippie by night, touring the country to see his favorite band, Dead and Company, and attend countless music festivals. He saw the Northern Lights in Iceland and sunsets in Hawaii, making friends wherever he went. Tyler had that special something that is so hard to adequately put into words. He had a beautiful soul and huge heart that loved so many. He was a fiercely loyal friend that made everyone feel like they were his best friend. His personality was so big, and he shared laughs and real conversations with every single person that crossed his path. His smile was always present, like he knew something none of the rest of us knew.
Our heavy hearts are comforted by all the lives Tyler touched and in knowing that he truly did dance every single day like no one was watching and did not mind if they were.
"Poised for flight, Wings spread bright, Spring from night into the Sun …Wildflower seed on the sand and wind. May the four winds blow you home again."
