Meghan Radford Obituary

Meghan Bleu Radford of Santa Cruz, CA, was born on October 19, 1974, and passed away on November 1, 2023. Meghan was the beloved daughter of Nadine and Ken, and she is survived by her mother, father, brother Jacob, stepfather Peter, and stepmother Betty.

Meghan always had a natural talent for cooking. She had a career which began in Florida and continued throughout her life as she worked in kitchens when she resided in New Orleans, the Austin Zen Center in Texas, the Green Gulch Farm Zen Center in Muir Beach, Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in Carmel Valley, and at the Insight Retreat Center in Santa Cruz.

Meghan had a fulfilling life practicing Buddhism. She was a tireless activist for social justice who supported addiction recovery, fought racial injustice, and cared for the homeless. Meghan's character was that of pure love; her heart was always open to others. The whole universe benefited from her natural radiance. Her compassion was a light to observe.

In accordance with Meghan's wishes, no funeral is planned. Mehl's Colonial Chapel in Watsonville, CA, is assisting with the cremation arrangements. Meghan will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her memory will forever be cherished.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Meghan's passing. I had the opportunity to spend time with Meghan at Insight Retreat Center, meditating and working with her in the kitchen. Her kindness will always be remembered.

I knew Meghan as a baby and young child when I was married to her uncle, her father´s brother. She was a beautiful and free-spirited child. Meghan seemed, even at that time, to be aware and thoughtful of the world around her. I wish I had known her as the adult she became. I am so very sad that Meghan has passed away. I´m hoping her mother, Nadine, whom I remember well will be reading this as I don´t know how to reach her. With heartfelt condolences and much love, Suzanne Radford.

I am sending condolences to Megan´s family.
I knew Megan through her racial justice work where she was always trying to integrate that work into her Buddhist community. Her loving spirit always shone through even though most of our interactions were on Zoom.

My deepest condolences to Meghan's family. I am deeply saddened by this news, and also grateful that I knew Meghan. I knew her through racial justice work, and appreciated her deeply caring soul and commitment to integrating social justice in all aspects of her life. While much of our work together was via zoom, I had the joy of experiencing Meghan's cooking once, and I'll never forget it. It was truly some of the most wonderful cooking I've ever had. Thank you, Meghan.
