Anna Gandy Obituary

LUBBOCK Graveside services for Anna D. Gandy, 96, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in Resthaven Memorial Park's Mausoleum Chapel in Lubbock with her great-grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers. You may send condolences to the family online at www.cpcleburne.com. Mrs. Gandy passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, in Arlington, Texas. She was born April 11, 1913, in Denison, Texas. She was a member of Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock for many years. Anna retired after over 20 years with Sears, as a manager in the catalog department. "Mama D" or "DD" as her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her was a strong willed lady with a love for her family that was as big as Texas. She was an animal lover, especially of dogs; and they loved her. She will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved her. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Afton Gandy; and sister Faye Higgs. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Hesta and Hayden Barker; her grandchildren and their spouses, Tommy and Gwen Rather, Renee and Rodney Macdonald, Craig and Julie Rather; 6 great-grandsons, Ryan, Reece, T.G., Chase, Chandler and Trevor; 3 nephews, Brownie, Bobby, and Bodie Higgs.

Bob, Brownie, and Bodie,
I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I remember your aunt as being the real cool adult to visit, when we were in college.

I never personaly met Anna but she was a special telephone friend. She and my father Roswell Miller were 1st cousins. Anna was always so pleasant and interesting when we visited together. I am truly sorry I never had the opportunity to meet her.
