Charles K. "Chock" Carruth

ANDREWS - Funeral service for Charles K. "Chock" Carruth, 67, of Andrews will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Andrews, with Larry Mobbs of Odessa officiating. Burial will be in the Andrews Old Cemetery. He died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1935 in Lubbock, Texas, to Charlie Carruth and Ouida Doty Carruth. They moved to Andrews in 1948 from Denver City. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1955. He attended Hardin-Simmons University and San Angelo College. He married Joyce Dru Gardner on July 7, 1956, in Pecos, Texas. She preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 2000. He had owned and operated Chock's Oil Well Service since 1972. He was involved in ranching, the Senior Team Roping Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He supported the Andrews County 4-H Club and the Andrews Livestock Association. He had been a board of director for the First National Bank in Andrews. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews. He is survived by his son, Chris Carruth and wife, Becky, of Andrews; daughter, Paula Sommers and husband, Lynn, of Andrews; mother, Ouida Carruth of Andrews; sister, Kendall Robertson of Andrews; four grandchildren, Clif Ward, Casey, Courtney and Carson Carruth, all of Andrews; and a special friend, Gayle Miller of Andrews. We really enjoyed knowing you in the years we did business together. In fact, this morning eight of Abe's offspring(show whethers) are going to the 4-H Barn in Sonora for a special sale. We appreciate all the visiting we did the past two plus years.We are very sorry that you had to suffer recently.
