CHRISTINE "CHRIS" VINES

SAN ANGELO - Our dearly loved wife, mother, and O'ma, Christine "Chris" Vines, 64, went to be with her heavenly Father and Lord Jesus on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. She was born on Feb. 18, 1942, in Enterprise, Ala. She married Lonnie Vines on Jan. 26, 1980. She devoted her life to her Lord, husband, children, grandbabies, friends, family and church. One of her favorite verses was Galatians 6:10, "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Chris believed that it was more blessed to give than receive. She was an active member of Grace Temple Baptist Church where she enjoyed using her gift of hospitality to humbly serve others. She also loved to teach her class of 4-year-olds about the love of Jesus. A celebration with family and friends was held Monday, Jan. 1, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Harris Avenue Baptist Church. Graveside service will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Pallbearers will be men from the Grace Temple church family. Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Vines; daughter Beverly King; daughter Laura Appling and her husband, Kendall, with children Kristen and Jake; daughter Leigh Wallace and her husband, James, with children Mandy and Bekah; daughter Carrie Beamer and her husband, Russ, with child Derek Swanson; son Michael Vines and his wife, Dana, with children Emily, Jonathan and Katherine; Wendy Stewart and her husband, T.J., with children Blake, Rowde and Duncan; cousin Kitty Sue Allen; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charlie and Clyde Walden; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Trilvia Vines; her cousins, Jerry Walden and Jimmy Walden; and her aunts, Louise Fahey and Catherine Walden. Memorials can be made to Grace Temple Baptist Church Building Fund.
