Donna Nieri Obituary

SAN ANGELO Donna Moore Nieri passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, in San Angelo. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 16, at Community Hills Christian Church in San Angelo. Private burial will follow. Visitation is at from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Donna was born July 2, 1948, in Coleman to Maggie and Buddy Moore. She grew up in her parents' hometown of Ozona where she graduated from high school in 1965. She earned a degree in home economics from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. On Dec. 26, 1971, Donna married Pedro Nieri in Ozona United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband; and by their daughter, Rebecca Hardin-Nieri and her husband, Scott; and two grandchildren, Olivia and Nico of Colorado; and by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Scotty and Linda Moore and Brent and Janet Moore, all of Ozona. Her parents preceded her in death. Donna was a charter member of Community Hills Christian Church, where she was a member of the board of directors and an elder. She was church secretary for a number of years, also worked with area psychologists and United Campus Ministries at ASU. She enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the world on Farm Bureau trips. Donna was a talented homemaker who loved to sew, knit and quilt. Thinking of her grandchildren never failed to bring a smile to her face. Like her Dad, she loved animals, and like her Mom, she loved and respected her family's ranch. The family is grateful for the care and guidance of Dr. Jim Neill regarding Donna's health and wish to express gratitude for the loving ways Hospice of San Angelo held us all during the transition. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be given to Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat at 9030 Retreat Road, Brownwood, Texas, 76801-0587, or to Crockett County Health and Wellness Center, Box 865, Ozona, Texas, 76943.

Pete & Becca, I was heartbroken to read about Donna's death on line today. I could not have asked for better neighbors when we both lived on Wyoming. I always felt so safe with you and Donna next door. Donna was one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever known. My heart breaks for your family. Crystal and I will keep you in our prayers and thoughts. Love, Cindy Pitchford

Pete,
Somehow Mitzi & I weren't aware of Donna's death. Glenda called on the way home tonight and told me how many of the family were present at the visitation. I am so so sorry . Mitzi is going to try to make the service in the morning. Please know that we never intentially were not present. We love you and Donna very much. Please send me the contact information and I will come see you the next time I am in the area. Again our most sincere condolences. Please tell Scotty & Brent that we are so sorry for their loss as well.

I am at a loss for words....Donna was such a wonderful friend. We had so many great lunches that lasted over two hours! I have so many great memories of our times together. Donna trained me to replace her at College Hills Christian Church....she was so sweet. I knew right away that I wanted her to be a friend. We got together with two other ladies from the church to chat, knit, crochet, quilt, or cross stitch. We moved away from San Angelo 17 years ago. My heart is broken knowing Donna is no longer there. My love and thoughts go to Pete, Becca, Scott, Olivia and Nico.
