I was a student of Dr. Grimes from '77 - '80 at Angelo State Univeristy. I also did masters degree work with her from '82 to completion in '85. She was one of the most accomplished musicians I have ever come in contact. I am still telling Dr. Grimes stories to my current students, now some 30 years later. She will truly be missed by me and countless other of her students. She was an icon and huge reason for the sucesses that were ASU music department back in those days. Dr. Grimes was a teacher who inspired, encouraged, and challenged me while attending ASU. My favorite memory of her is when she would dress up in her colorful outfit and play Joplin's ragtimes. I will miss you, my teacher and friend.

My most favorite teacher and an example of what a lady should be! She had such a zeal for life and of course her beloved music! No matter what your talent level was she made you feel like you could play like Mozart! The music world has lost a gem.
