Elizabeth Sikes Obituary

SAN ANGELO Elizabeth "Lib" Eugenia Canon Sikes, 96, of San Angelo passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011. She was born July 14, 1914, in Farmersville, Texas. Elizabeth graduated from The University of Texas in 1935, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Chi Omega. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Ellen Elizabeth Sikes Johnson and husband Clint Johnson and Susan Hubbard Sikes Wills; former son-in-law Raymond Madison Wills; grandsons David Edward Johnson and wife Amy Dunn Johnson, Stephen Craig Johnson and wife Kristyn Ebert-Johnson, Warren Clint Wills; granddaughters Mary Elizabeth Wills Brooks and husband Jason Brooks, Susan Elizabeth Johnson-Mumford; great-granddaughters Sydney Elizabeth Johnson, Emery Anne Johnson and Ansley Catherine Johnson, Lauren Elizabeth Brooks; great-grandson Colin Sikes Brooks; cousin Stephanie Holland; and family friend Septima Green. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Peter R. Sikes. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, in First Baptist Church chapel with Dr. Mark Bumpus officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are with Johnson's Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be David Edward Johnson, Stephen Craig Johnson, W. Clint Johnson, Warren Clint Wills, Raymond Madison Wills, Jason Brooks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association; Pet Food Project of Meals for the Elderly; Tom Green County Humane Society; Baptist Memorials Ministries; or to a charity of choice. Family and friends may sign an online register book at johnsons-funeralhome.com.
