Frances Floyd Obituary

SAN ANGELO Frances Carolyn Floyd was born Aug. 10, 1933, to John Quincy Adams Jr. and Bernice Spiva Adams in her grandmother's house in Atlanta, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her younger sister, Sandra Adams Vezina. On Dec. 23, 1954, she married Barney Floyd. They shared 57 years together. They have four children, Jeanie Shelton and husband Kent of Amherst, Texas, Linda Klonz and husband Ralph of San Antonio, Mark Floyd of San Angelo, and Duskie Marceau and husband Glenn of Justin. She is also survived by six very special grandchildren, Bonnie Holder of San Angelo, Jeana Owens of San Angelo, Casee Flood of Austin, Jarod Sims of San Angelo, Lilly Hartgraves of College Station, and Megan Marceau of Grapevine; and four great-grandchildren. Very special to her were two nephews, Rodney and Robert Floyd of San Angelo. She had so many friends that were so special to her. She was a fabulous cook. One of her greatest joys was having her family around the dinner table and providing a wonderful meal. They were all award winning meals in the family's opinion. In fact, she won a cooking contest for her fabulous oatmeal cake. She always took all the time needed to nurture our issues whatever they were; broken hearts or broken spirits. Her family meant everything to her. She unselfishly gave so much of herself to all of us. She was always there when we needed her. Not only will we always cherish the memories of her love and nurturing, but we will always have a smile in our hearts for the laughter she induced with her "I love Lucy" moments. Our beloved mother passed away in the home that she loved, surrounded by her family on Nov. 3, 2012. Family visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in Fairmount Cemetery with Chaplain J. T. Tucker of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Steve Burgess, Chaplain J.T. Tucker, the staff of St. Johns skilled nursing facility, the staff of Odyssey Hospice, and a very special thank you to Steve Kuykendall for holding our hands during Mother's final moments of life. "Meme, thank you for the time you gave us. The lessons that you taught us have made us the women we are today. The memories will always be cherished and the strength that you gave us will carry on for generations." In her final days we often heard Daddy singing to Mother, "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." "Mother, you will be in our hearts forever. We will miss seeing your smile, but we will be together again." Frances's obituary and memorial guestbook may be viewed online at www.robertmassie.com.

Dear Linda, Mark, Duskin, & Jeanie:
I will miss talking with Frances on the telephone. Even when she was very sick she would downplay her pain & be upbeat. Her life was not easy but she sure did love her children & grandchildren. I know she will missed by all who loved her dearly. Much love cousin, Linda Harris

Frances, How much you will be missed by your beautiful children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and so many friends that love you. I treaure the times I spent in your home - you were so talented - a spectacular cook, amazing seamstress, and always make us feel like adopted family. I never wanted to leave! I'm happy that you're now in the most beautiful place with the ones who have gone before waiting to welcome you to paradise. I'm also very blessed to have had you in my life if even for a short time. Rest in Peace, Sweet Mrs. Floyd. You're now painfree, stress-free and your worries have disappeared. No doubt there's a very special place for you in Heaven and we know we'll all see you in time. Jeanie, Linda, Mark and Duskie.. my prayers are with you. I know being there for her final 12 days meant everything to all of you. Love to all of you..
