Jim was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Elizabeth Kerr and George E. Edscorn, his brother John Bennett Edscorn and his son Randall Lewis Halford. He was the loving partner of 4 ½ years to Marilyn Lann whom he absolutely adored and loved. He is survived by his sister, Jean Margaret and her husband Richard Eugene Speece from Nashville, TN. His daughter Katrina Alarice and her husband Christopher Clark from San Angelo, TX, son Alaric Von and daughter in law Lalena Edscorn from Las Vegas, NV. Jim was born in Plainfield, NJ then moved to Lakeland, FL as a young boy where he grew up farming on a 200+ acre farm. At an early age Jim grew fond of trains, planes and automobiles, this interest developed into a passion as a model train maker and auto racing enthusiast throughout his entire life. He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1960 after graduating from Lakeland Community College, Lakeland, FL with honors and served our nation for 10 years in the Coast Guard. In 1975, Jim took a leap of faith and opened his first retail Indian jewelry/art gallery and named it Turquoise Tepee in Birmingham, AL. It was an astounding success which led him to opening up a western store known as Sundance two years later near the same location. The achievement of those two stores led Jim onto his journey of opening up numerous stores across the country as well as selling retail goods at rodeos, music concerts, auto races, and state fairs. Throughout his life, Jim not only traveled around the world but also traversed the United States so many times that he knew every highway and back road by memory. Jim's love for driving surpassed even free tickets from Frontier Airlines anywhere in the country which he always chose to drive instead.
Jim made many friends all over the United States, he was always willing to share a good story or a laugh with strangers and old friends. He also played a part in offering advice to any youth who was willing to listen, many of those youth turned out to be extremely successful and remember him today for helping them change their lives.
Jim was an artistic soul with a lifelong enthusiasm for playing the piano and painting. When he was not dabbling his artistic abilities with the ivory keys on a piano, he was painting it onto canvas. Jim also took up dancing this past decade which he thoroughly loved. His favorite dance partner was Marilyn with whom he could be seen out at least three times a week tearing up the entire dance floor.
In conclusion, Jim would want everyone to know that through all the years, the ups and downs, the good and bad, and success and failures, he did it one way, "My Way".
A celebration of Jim's life and the love his family has for him is planned for Tuesday, July 06, 2021 at 1:00pm at The Concho Pearl Icehouse, 1605 S. Chadbourne Street, San Angelo, TX 76903.
