James Hendry Obituary
San Angelo - Richard Hendry passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2020.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, with family time from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021 at Shaffer Funeral Home's Sherwood Way Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 4, 2021 at Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor Roy Ramon Officiating of Beacon Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
James was born June 3, 1946 in San Angelo, Texas to James Edison Hendry and Virginia (Moore) Hendry. James married Nancy (Smith) Hendry on August 1, 1967 in Casper, Wyoming.
James graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1965. He served in the US Navy from 1965-1970. He started his law enforcement career with the Casper Wyoming Police Department where he served from 1972-1974 before moving to Coleman Texas Police Department from 1975-1976. He then moved his family to San Angelo, Texas where he was with the SAPD from 1976-1998.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Laura Nance and husband Mike of San Angelo; one brother, Robert Hendry of San Angelo; one sister, Francine Ryan of Lubbock; brother-in-law, Roland Curry and wife Cheryl of San Angelo, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Kenneth Hendry, and his aunt Cora (Moore) Pease.
