John Coughlin Obituary

Dr. John P. "Jack" Coughlin

San Angelo

Dr. John P. "Jack" Coughlin, 81, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2017, in San Angelo. Jack was born June 24, 1935, in Oak Park, Illinois to Bryan R. and Kathryn E. Feely Coughlin. He grew up in the Chicago area and after High School attended The University of Notre Dame where he served his pre-med training. He attended medical school at Loyola University and graduated on June 13, 1961. Jack served his internship at Cincinnati General Hospital from 1961 to 1962, and then from 1962 to 1966 served his residency at the Surgical and Urologic University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Cincinnati General Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served his country honorably, in the United States Army, from 1966 to 1968 where he became Chief of Urology at Darnell Army Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas. Jack moved to San Angelo in 1968 where he opened his private practice in Urology and remained in practice until his retirement in 2013. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family and to his patients. He loved spending time with his family, and as a physician, also put his patients first. Above all, Jack's passion in life was his practice of medicine. He loved all his patients and considered them all friends.
