KATIE COX Obituary

BROWNWOOD - Funeral services for Katie Gray Cox, age 80, of Brownwood, were at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 11, 2004, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve McMeans and the Rev. Bobby Cox officiating. Interment followed in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Cox passed away on Friday, April 9, in Brownwood. Katie was born on July 30, 1923, in Comanche County, to John M. and Mary Susan Davidson Gray. She married Perry Horace Cox on September 27, 1947, in Brownwood. She was a lifetime resident of Brownwood, and worked as a claims clerk for the Social Security Administration for a number of years. Katie was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church for 75 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #116, and the Mary Garland Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Katie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Perry Cox of Brownwood; a son, David Cox and his wife, Elizabeth, of San Angelo; two granddaughters, Rebecca Ann "Becky" Bray and her husband, David, of San Angelo, and Audra Grace Schultz and her husband, Patrick, of Saginaw, Mich.; a grandson, Robert Perry "Bobby" Cox and his wife, Angie, of Tulsa, Okla.; a great-granddaughter, Kyndal Lee Cox; three great-grandsons, Braden Perry Cox, Justin David Bray and Noah Edward Smith and his father, Shay Smith; and many nieces and nephews.Katie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald Gray.
