Lori Potter Obituary

Lori Lynn Potter

San Angelo

Lori Lynn (Rascoe) Potter was born on Sunday, Nov. 12, 1961 in San Angelo, Texas to Clyde M. Rascoe and Joanie (Bringolf) Rascoe. She spent her childhood years with the neighborhood kids who later on became lifelong friends.

Lori graduated from Central High School in May 1980. She married Dale Potter on June 12, 1982 in San Angelo, and then graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in Interior Design. She spent years in different fields of work and her diverse business ventures gave her the experience to master the field and helped her to create more lifelong friends.

Lori was known for her creative side and spent many hours throughout her life on projects dedicated to her children, work, and church community. She was a teacher in the HAYO program for 13 years, and she and Dale volunteered with the Saturday Ramp Rollers for 10 years. Lori was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2010. and was a strong fighter throughout it all. The family would like to thank Dr. Carolyn Matthews and nurse, Flor, of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Raj Cheruku of San Angelo, Texas, hospice nurses, Debbie and Shirley, and CNA, Crystal for their help during these last few months of Lori's life that by no means defined the woman she was.

Lori was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clyde and Joanie Rascoe.

She is survived by her husbandof 34 years, Dale Potter; her daughter Kyrie Villa and husband John Villa; her son Nolan Potter of San Angelo; her sister Bonn (Art) McSorely of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; her brother Chilton (Joetta) Harris of Garland, Texas; her aunts Betty (Nelson) Dunn of Arlington, Texas, and Doris Bringolf of Houston, Texas, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Knew Lori for most of our lives. School, church, etc. She was always so friendly and genuinely caring. Our paths crossed intermittently over the years and even though time had passed she always greeted me as a dear friend. Probably saw her most at election polls! Even though your hearts are hurting and it is hard to imagine life without her, I am sure she has left you with an endless supply of happy memories! What a wonderful wife and mother!

Lori may have left us too soon, but she did a lot of living while she was here! We imagine Heaven is enjoying her infectious laugh and she's probably already shared a joke or two with Jesus.

I remember first meeting Lori, Dale. It was in a hospital room, years ago when it looked like you were the one that was going to be moving to Heaven. We had been in San Angelo just a short time and you and Darrell had only known one another a few weeks. Lori wisely threw aside protocol and dared to cross religious boundaries, contacting and urging any and everyone she could think of who might have faith, to come, gather around you, and pray for a miracle. Her humility and boldness was apparent and I remember thinking this is strong woman, who deeply loves her husband and family. And I wanted to know her.

Well, you know the rest of the story. Lori got her (your) miracle and God graciously allowed us all to develop a lasting friendship.

Though we'll miss her beautiful smile and great sense of humor, we are grateful for the friend and sister in Christ Lori will forever be.

Know that you are loved very much, Dale. We will always be praying for you and the family.

Jesus said to her, Did I not tell you and promise you that if you would believe and rely on Me, you would see the glory of God? John 11:40 AMPC

Happy dancing with you, sis! ❤
