Orval Turner Obituary

SAN ANGELO Former San Angelo resident Orval Jones (O.J.) Turner Jr., 76, of Hazelwood, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013. He was born to Orval Jones Turner Sr. and Reba Blakeway Turner on July 16, 1936, in San Angelo, Texas. O.J. graduated from San Angelo High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1954 until 1955, when he joined the U.S. Army, serving until he retired in 1981. He then served as a civil servant working at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., as well as a civil service assignment in St. Louis, Mo., when he retired in 1997, making Hazelwood, Mo., his home. He is survived by his son, A.J. Turner of San Angelo, Texas; and his two daughters, Valerie Ercanbrack of Irving, Texas, and Reba Martinez of San Angelo, Texas; as well as six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. "The greatest gift we ever had came from God, we call him Dad, if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever."
