RAYMOND STEWARD Obituary

ODESSA - Raymond F. Steward, 75, of Odessa died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at his residence. Memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Raymond Fondren Steward was born Dec. 6, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, to Ray and Inez Fondren Steward. He lived in Rockwood and graduated high school in Santa Anna. Raymond attended Tarleton College, and in the 1950s, he moved to San Angelo, where he married Louise Averett on Jan. 21, 1951. In 1952, Raymond entered the U.S. Army and served two years. He loved and had a passion for construction machinery sales. This career took Raymond all over the world. He worked for Oilwell Supply, Engine Services, Ingresoll Rand Equipment and Airmasters. Even in his last few months, Raymond was working and putting together a deal. Raymond was a member of Rockwood Baptist Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed swimming at Lake LBJ, relaxing in Ruidosa and attending the blue grass music festivals. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Louise, of Odessa; children Ronnie Steward of Odessa, Judy Wideman and husband Mel of Lubbock and Karen Echols and husband Eric of Chandler, Ariz.; brother J. Steward and wife Chelly of Odessa; sisters Mickie Campbell and husband Ray of Alvin, and Deborah Steward of Silver City, N.M.; grandsons Scott and Kyle Steward; and great-grandsons Kade Parson and Jackson Steward. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scottish Rites Crippled Children Fund of Dallas.
