W. WILSON Obituary

SAN ANGELO - W.C. Wilson, 73, of San Angelo passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at his home. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Troy Barrington officiating. Interment will follow in Belvedere Cemetery. W.C. was born in San Angelo to William C. Wilson Sr. and Carrie Emily Coffee Wilson. He married Mary Lou Carter on Nov. 13, 1954. W.C. was a deacon in the Primitive Baptist Church. W.C. started a career in land surveying in 1949 under the direction of J.A. and Byron Simpson and soon became a registered public surveyor and licensed state land surveyor. In 1957, he founded Wilson Land Surveying in San Angelo. Over the next several decades, he surveyed over 1.5 million acres of land in Texas and acquired a license in New Mexico. W.C. was known statewide as an expert on the gradient boundary and filed many surveys for vacancies and patents with the General Land Office. He also worked as a consultant and testified as an expert witness in numerous boundary disputes throughout the state. W.C. was very involved and had a large influence on the surveying profession. He was a charter member and past president-elect of the Texas Surveyors Association. From 1982 to 1992, he served on the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying and was appointed to another term in 2003. W.C. served as chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee in 1981 and assisted in writing the Land Surveying Practices Act and subsequent revisions. He served on numerous other committees, wrote articles and was awarded Surveyor of the Year in 1998. He loved to share his experiences and knowledge with young surveyors and became an instructor at surveying seminars. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Mary Lou Wilson; sons Jay Wilson and Gerry Price; grandchildren Lawrence J. Wilson and wife Graciela, Jeremy Wilson and wife Nicole, Traci Majors and husband Brent, Holly Thurman and husband Steve, Hunter Price and wife Jennifer, and Christal Price; and seven great-grandchildren, Matt Bly, Maci Majors, Jake Major, Alexis Wilson, Charlese Wilson, Stryler Price and Taylen Thurman. Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Special thanks go to Dr. Humbecker and staff, Hospice and special nurses Alice Brown, Theresa Torres and Dorothy McCormick. Pallbearers will be Peyton McCone, Tom Houston, Hunter Price, Steve Emmons, Benny Dusek and Jay Lindsey.

Wilson, also known to myself as Papa,will be dearly missed.He was the most kindest,honest,person I have ever had the privlage of having as a mentor.There should be more people like this christian,family man, and the world would be a much better place.Thank you for all the love and support you and Nana have given to me amoung all my dreams and travels and for always being my special place,my home,and for loving me even through the mistakes you knew I was heading for.Thank you for being my Papa
