Wayne McCune Obituary

Wayne "PawPaw" McCune

San Angelo - Wayne McCune, 65, of San Angelo, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021. He was born on May 14, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas to Harold and Ann McCune. He attended Abernathy High School, and graduated in the class of 1973. He later went on to obtain a BA degree from Angelo State University. Wayne married his soul mate, Linda Holubec on October 6, 1984. They had many happy years together. Their home was the gathering place for many celebrations. Everyone always felt welcomed and never left hungry and the sound of laughter was always in the air. Wayne began working as a janitor for Wendland Manufacturing Corporation in 1976, and worked his way up to the position of president of the company. He eventually retired as a consultant for Wendland in 2020. Wayne was a proud member of the San Angelo Country Club, where he enjoyed his passion for the game of golf. Wayne will be remembered for his sense of humor and his dancing antics. He was the life of the party and had many life-long friends, who were family to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ann McCune, brother in law, Larry Holubec, and brother in law, Eddie Jennings. He is survived by his wife, of 36 years, Linda McCune; sister, Drueann Decker and husband, Mark; brother, Lee McCune and wife Jan; sister in laws, Judy Jennings, Patsy Kahlig and husband Mike. Nephews and Nieces: Heather and Steven Hayes, Rhetick and Bryson; Jon and Natalie Jennings, Easton McCune, Catlin McCune; Michon and Gary Tucker, Gavin and Gio; Chad and Mindy Shadden, Cheyann and Scarlett; Brad and McKensie Shadden, Brody, Maverick, and Barrett; Kris and Brandy Kahlig, Aidan, and Etta; and Joe Kahlig.
