Wesley "Wes" Edward Henson was born July 21, 1953, in Big Spring, Texas. He entered Heaven's gate on Jan. 1, 2018, at the age of 64.
Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, in the Chapel in Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas.
He was the son of Jesse Edward Henson and the late Juanita Janice Henson. After graduating Stanton High School in 1971, Wes joined the United States Navy Seabees where he learned the trade of an electrician. He was honorably discharged as an E5. Along with his many honors one of his most cherished memories was being chosen as an honorary pallbearer for baseball player Dizzy Dean in Wiggins, Mississippi.
On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, 1978, he married the love of his life and best friend of 39 years, Tressa Ann Hull. The Lord blessed them with three beautiful daughters, Ashley Harris and husband TJ, Marisha Hodges and husband Micheal and Daisha Morrison. They made their home in Sonora, Texas where he worked for Sonora ISD.
Wes enjoyed deer and varmint hunting in "Ol" Red. Spending time with family was the most important thing in his life. They fished, hunted and loved golfing together. Another pleasure for him was bar-b-queing ribs (bones) on the weekends.
Wes always had a smile for everyone and could make everybody smile with his witty ways. Throughout his life he made many friends all over the world.
His most greatest joy was being a "PA" to his nine grandchildren, Laison, Shailyn, Paityn, and Caitie Harris, Sydney and Samuel Hodges, Pade, Kortlen and Case Morrison.
He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Keylin Kennedi Morrison.
He is survived by his sister, Valerie Zarate and husband Leon; In-laws Homer Lee and Doris Hull; brothers-in-law Brad Hull, Denneth Hull and wife Gay and Garry Hull and wife Julie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The over-whelming power of prayer has been felt by our family and we would like to thank all prayer warriors. We will be forever grateful for the excellent care and compassion from the Shannon Cancer Center. There will always be a nurse who does more than required and cares more than they are supposed to. Thank you Lori, Shannon, Nathan and Shelby.
