Whitney Kinslow Obituary

Whitney Rob Kinslow

San Angelo

Whitney Rob Kinslow passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016. He was born on Jan. 14, 1971, in San Angelo, Texas, to Robbie Pope Kinslow and Larry Franklin Kinslow. Whit attended San Angelo schools, graduating from Central High School in 1989. During his childhood, he began developing his love for music and anything instrumental. Whit was a very talented piano, guitar, drum player and vocalist. He was able to play anything by ear.

After high school Whit moved to Georgetown, Texas, to attend Southwestern University. He studied Biology, earning a degree in Chemistry and Biology in 1993. While in Georgetown he met Juli Currey. They were married on Feb. 5, 1994. They moved to Pasadena afterwards, so that Whit could attend Texas Chiropractic College. While attending school, Robert Sutton Kinslow was born on April 25, 1996. Benjamin Hayden Kinslow followed on Feb. 22, 1998. Whit received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in August of 1999, graduating second in his class. The family moved back to Georgetown where Whit opened his practice, and Davis Carter Kinslow was born on Feb. 19, 2000, thus completing the set of "brothers".

Whit enjoyed coaching "the brothers" in soccer, baseball and flag football throughout the years. Whenever he was able, Whit would find a guitar and a group of folks to jam and gig with. Music was his outlet. He was a member of our First United Methodist Church band "The Stirring" off and on for several years. Whit loved playing with local bands in and around the Central Texas area. He particularly loved what he called the Texas Red Dirt scene.

He loved to trade musical instruments and was an avid Craigslist junkie. His other passion was trading and working on cars. This began almost as early as his love for music. Whit loved spending time with his family. He looked forward to ski trips and summer fishing trips to his beloved Red River. He also enjoyed watching college football, especially the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. Whit was so proud of Sutton and Hayden and their successes as students at Tech, and of Carter and his accomplishments with the Georgetown High School Archery Team.

He was an amazing man, husband, father, brother and friend to all.

Whit is survived by Juli Currey Kinslow and sons Robert Sutton, Benjamin Hayden and Davis Carter of Georgetown. He is also survived by Ronah, Bob, Lindsey, Brandon and Bowen Currey of Georgetown; his sister, Allison Tonne, her husband Paul, nephew Bradley and niece Lauren Tonne, all of San Angelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robbie Pope Kinslow and Larry Franklin Kinslow.

We will be forever grateful for the time we had with him. His sense of humor was infectious. He will be missed greatly. Memorial service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at First United Methodist Church in Georgetown and at 2 pm. Friday, Nov. 4, at Southland Baptist Church in San Angelo.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to request memorials to the Georgetown First United Methodist Church band "The Stirring."

I was a patient so did not know of his amazing music talent or love of cars. I know he took pride in serving his patients. So sorry he left way to young and did not get to see his boys fully grown. Christi center is a grief group that is there for those left behind. It has been a great help for me.

I will miss Dr. Kinslow. He became a dear friend who I trusted with his chiropractic treatments and medical advice when needed. We often enjoyed conversations about the love of Christ Jesus for us individually and the privilege to praise Him with both song and instruments. Blessings to his dear family.

My heart goes out to Whit's family and friends. I was saddened to hear of our loss. Whit was such a kind, fun and articulate classmate. We had a wonderful class during the intense chiropractic schooling and Whit always seemed to smile, giggle and know the answers. It is a huge loss to the chiropractic profession, but I feel honored we crossed paths.

I am in a state of shock hearing this news.. I am so sorry for ya'lls loss.. He was such a great guy that I enjoyed chatting with while he was adjusting me. The first time I met Juli was Nov. 1995 at McCoy school when my son started there. They lived in the neighborhood that we moved in. Enjoyed knowing him. My husband and I used him for many, many years as our chiropractor. He will be sadly missed.

Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Hope you all can find peace in your healing...

We knew Larry and Robbie well. We loved them. We shared their joy in both Allison and Whitney when they were little tykes but went seperate ways later as life so often sends us in different directions.

We never knew Whitney well as an older child or as an adult; we just heard good things about him from others. Later Allison taught with and went touring with Betty while they were at Lincoln JHS. Betty loved you Allison, you know that and still does even though we don't see each other often. We do know that now our other dear friend's daughter Jenny is a good friend to Allison and that gives us a good feeling.

We are so sorry to lose this young man too early and take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his folks and no doubt laughing already. That sense of humor was a family trait and much enjoyed by all who knew Larry and Robbie and Allison and Whitney; I have no doubt their children share that humor streak as well.

Allison, I know you are a tough Tonne and will continue to be the family rock for the younger generation. Bless you all, our sympathy for your loss.

She came home and had nothing but high praise for the kindness and caring way he treated her. Hayden is a good friend of our son Ian since elementary school. I was looking forward to visiting his practice and possibly getting to know a future friend. Our deepest condolences to the Kinslow family.
