FORT WORTH William Joseph Marx, Sr. 84, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Thompson Harveson and Cole Funeral Home followed by vigil. His memory may be honored with a gift to the

Bill was born March 11, 1925 in Dallas, Texas, son of the late Frank and Leila Marx. He graduated Paris High School, Paris, Texas in 1942. A veteran of World War II enlisting in the Navy February 1943 serving in the Pacific until his separation and Honorable Discharge in February 1946. He received the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Following his military service he earned an AA from Paris Junior College and a BBA in General Business with a minor in Finance from SMU. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity, Blue Key Honorary Fraternity. Upon graduation he began a career in sales with Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) where he marketed computers and business systems to Banks, Savings and Loans and government. He was awarded the Legion of Honor from Burroughs Corp. many times for consistently achieving his sales goals. He retired in December 1985. Throughout his life, he was committed to his faith and enjoyed golf and family life. Bill was preceded in death by his grandson, Timothy Marx; his brother, Frank; and his sisters, Mary Charlton Starke and Lois Catherine Bernard. Survivors include his children, William Marx Jr. and his wife, Mary, Christopher Marx, Stephen Marx and his wife, Sandra, Melanie Parish and her husband, Michael, Timothy Marx, Richard Marx and his wife, Suzanne, and John Marx and his wife, Louisa; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
