SAN ANGELO - William Harold "Bill" Seaman, 83, of San Angelo died Monday, July 5, 2004, in a local hospital. Following a private family graveside service, a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 15, in Community Hills Christian Church with the Rev. Casey Heilman and the Rev. O'Neal Westbrook officiating. A visitation will follow the service for family and friends at the church. Mr. Seaman was born on Oct. 25, 1920, in Lueders, Texas. He was the only child of Seth William and Linnie Fitzgerald Seaman. Bill, or Billy as he was known to most of his friends and relatives, was active in high school sports and was captain of the school's first football team. Bill attended John Tarleton College at Stephenville, Texas, before joining the Army Air Force in October 1942. After training at several armament schools, he was commissioned a second lieutenant at the Air Force Technical Training Command, Yale University, New Haven, Conn. Bill served in England as squadron armament officer in the 458th Bomb Group (H) stationed at Horsham St. Faith. After the war, Bill attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where he received a degree in geology. While working in Dallas he met Lucy Ligon, and they were married in 1950. Bill was assistant district director of the Oil and Gas Division of the Texas Railroad Commission when he retired in 1982. Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucy Ligon Seaman. He is also survived by two sons and a daughter, William H. Seaman Jr. and his wife, JoAnn, and their sons, Reed and wife Jennifer and their daughter, Addison, of Oceanside, Calif. and Ryan of Richardson; David Vernon Seaman and his wife, Sandra, and their children, Seth and Samantha of Dallas; Lisa Fraley and her husband, J.B., of San Angelo and daughter Sara Mundell of Dallas; and two cousins, Helen Patterson and Jimmy Fitzgerald of Marshall, Texas. Mr. Seaman was a charter member of College Hills Christian Church and also served as a deacon and elder. Bill was a longtime volunteer for Meals for the Elderly and Drive for Recovery for the
American Cancer Society. The family wishes to express its most sincere thanks to both Dr. Peter Chang and Dr. Raj Cheruku. They cared for Bill for more than five years. The family thanks them for their outstanding care, friendship, kindness and never-ending patience. Memorials may be made to Community Hills Christian Church, Meals for the Elderly or a favorite charity.
