Phil Brewer Obituary

Phil Brewer, 76, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, in Fort Worth. He will be laid to rest on his ranch south of Graham. We will have a celebration of life for Dad on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Bunger Barn. Noon food and fellowship, 1:30 p.m. we will have a short service. We want to encourage anyone that wants to speak, say a few words, or have someone else read something you prepared, to have that opportunity. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.Phil was born Feb. 1, 1946 in Gorman, to the late Frances (Scott) Brewer and Bill Brewer. He married Karen Blackwell Jan. 2, 1969 in Hereford. Phil owned his own trucking business hauling cattle for many years.Phil started riding bulls in his early teenage years. He pursued this sport for many years. He was very successful at it. He rode bulls for the South Plains and Sul Ross rodeo teams. After getting married he and Karen bought an old truck and started hauling hay among other things. They then started a cutting and baling hay business. This led to a bigger and better truck. The cattle hauling business was born and they did that for 43 years. Phil and Karen worked together all these years. They drove team in the truck for the last 10 years.Phil was a very good truck mechanic and very knowledgeable. He never minded helping anyone who was looking for advice. Bull riding and Cow Hauling were his passions. He never minded helping anyone in need. He loved his family and always took care of them.Survivors include; wife, Karen Brewer of Graham; sons, Todd Brewer of Graham and Jay Brewer and wife Meagan of Graham; three grandchildren, Emerson, Kellen, and Boden Brewer; sister, Vicki Wheeler and husband Robert of Mineral Wells; aunt, Jewell Kimmel of DeLeon; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
