Sissy Garvey Obituary

Sissy Garvey January 3, 1945 - July 9, 2023 Sissy (Doris) Garvey, 78, passed away Sunday, July 9th, 2023 in Graham. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Oak Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Sissy was born January 3, 1945 in Vernon to the late Troy Arville and Dorothy Annetta (Roller) Mowrey. She was employed at Morrison Funeral Home and was a manager and owner of Kelly's Tax Service that later became Sissy & Lila's Tax Service. Sissy was a former member of The Lions Club, Democratic Women and AQHA. She was also a 24 year member of 4-H adult leaders and horse club.

She loved dancing, playing golf, baking cakes no matter what the occasion was and going to the movies with her grandkids. She was the biggest supporter and cheerleader of all her grandchildren sports.

Survivors include: daughter, Shelley Melton and husband, Johnnie of Aledo; son, Matt Garvey and wife, Betsy of Loving; grandchildren, Ashlee Henderson and husband, Blake of Tolar; Tenley and Caitlyn Garvey of Loving; nieces, Neely Crabtree and husband, Rodney of Duncanville; Tracey Mowrey of Graham; Stephanie Hay and husband, Bruce of Breckenridge. Great Grandchild, Blakely Henderson of Tolar.

She was preceded in death by brother Troy Mowrey and his wife Cathy and sister, Mary Davis.

Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
