Joan Hoffman Obituary

Joan Henry Hoffman, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Fla. She was 84 years old.
Born in Racine, Wis., to Sherman and Agnes Franke on Jan. 28, 1941, she was an ever-evolving person, with a strong love of tennis, meeting strangers and learning their story. To Joan, everyone had a story and every story was important.
In 1962, she married her first husband Merle Henry, who she spent 52 happy years with. In 1969, she and her husband left Racine with their eight-month-old daughter Susan, $400 and their few possessions in a U-Haul trailer and headed for Fort Myers, where Merle built a successful accounting practice, and Joan became assistant office manager for Pavese Law Firm in Fort Myers. Eventually, they relocated to The Landings in Fort Myers, where Joan could be found most every day on the tennis courts.
In 1996, Joan retired so she could spend her summers at their summer home on beautiful Lake Santeetlah in western North Carolina, where she became an avid basket maker and the "Picnic Queen" to her many visitors.
In 2021, Joan married David Hoffman and moved to Bonita Springs, Fla., where she enjoyed many fine events at Spanish Wells Golf and Country Club.
She is survived by her husband, David of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her daughter, Susan Richards of Oviedo, Fla.; her brother, Sherman Franke of Lake Geneva, Wis.; her sister, Barbara Madden and her brother-in-law Steve Madden both of Sebring, Fla.; and her sister, Shirley Lohmiller of Cape Coral, Fla.
